wonder

The following post was written as part of Lisa-Jo Baker’s “Five-Minute Friday” challenge.

Write freely for five minutes on the topic of the week, and link it back to her blog to see what others have contributed.

This week’s topic is Wonder.

As we prepare to upheave a family of five to a new continent, I wonder about many things.

I wonder where we will live, where we will work, what we will eat, what we will drive.

I wonder who we will meet, what we will do, where we will go.

I wonder many things as I cast my mind’s eye to the unknown.

Then I am able to share with a friend that we have found a house to live in when we arrive.  As she shares in our excitement, she aptly observes, “It’s amazing how God works. Funny how we are ‘surprised’ each time it happens.”

This comment drips down the candlestick of my mind and firmly embeds itself like hardened wax on a table.

Why am I surprised by the Lord’s provision, when He promises to clothe the lilies of the field and feed the birds of the air?

I sit back and reflect on His countless provisions, hour by hour by hour.  Not once have we lacked, not once have we gone unfed.

This alone causes tremendous awe and wonder.

What an awesome God we serve.

“Many, Lord my God,
are the wonders you have done,
the things you planned for us.
None can compare with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
they would be too many to declare.”

(Psalm 40:5)

  1. “It’s amazing how God works. Funny how we are ‘surprised’ each time it happens.”…this is SO true. And I love the next line, “This comment drips down the candlestick of my mind and firmly embeds itself like hardened wax on a table.” This resonates with me and I will ponder this post today.

    Thank you for sharing.
